LA, wha?

December 7th, 2011

Meet me in LA in January. I dare you. You can’t stay with me though. I’ll be lucky if I don’t get kicked out myself.
Just made 3 shorts. Coming soon. Hey do you wanna buy a kids’ show. Perfect then. I wrote two articles for this I’m not allowed to tell which ones. Kiss me.

Sweet Valley Summer

August 4th, 2011

I’m having the summer of my life. Quite literally. I hope you are too. Sweet Valley Summer, my friend calls it.
Sure have a swim. Sure. Do some kissing. Dancing. Singing. Eat some black raspberries, why don’t you. Go to Newfoundland. Sure, go for it. Oh sure. Call me. Let’s do this, you know what I mean? Let’s “get it”.
Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time. I have so much saved up, you see.
I’m doing a play called “Little One” at Summerworks. Google those two things and you get more about it. It’s a theatre play. I like play practice. I like playing dress-up and pretend. Come see it. It’s 15 bucks. Or don’t. No pressure, now.
Ice Cream truck’s outside. Gotta go.
I whistle this song all the time. Like a lot. I like it a lot. I like you a lot. You’re great just by your being you.
Doing a musical at Pop Montreal with Socalled. Doing stuff, whatever. Have a nice day now, little one.

She likes this song. A lot.

Pretty good, right? She’s got good taste.
Here’s another for your morning.

Amazing mixtape. Holy.

March 16th, 2011

Just got back from a month in Calgary doing a theatre play. About to do another one. Didn’t go to SXSW but my movie did. It’s called Slow Dance. I’ll show it to you sometime, I figure.
Here’s a pic from a Pat Watson vid I did in NY in the fall. It might come out someday.

300 Tapes

November 6th, 2010

I’m doing a show soon.
I recorded 100 stories on 100 micro-cassettes.
So did my friends Frank and Brendan.
We made little libraries. Then, say, I take a tape from one of their libraries and put it in my recorder and plug some headphones in, then rewind. Then I push play and tell one of their stories as if it was one of my own, with a second-delay. They do the same. It all kinda weaves (or “phases”) in and out. There’s a sound designer, Anna, who is basically another character. Then we videotape ourselves doing this “auto-reciting” and…you know how when you talk you move your hands around and scratch your nose and everything? Well, we watch the videotapes of us telling these stories and learn the moves that we unconsciously do when talking. It’s like storytelling choreography. It’s like, “Hey, what’s honest storytelling anyway?” It’s weird and I’m doing it at the Theatre Centre in Toronto December 1-12 or something and then in Calgary for the last 3 weeks of February, whatnot. The company’s called Public Recordings. The stories are funny, mostly, and Ame Henderson (the choreographer) is holy.

300 Tapes, what?

How have you been, though?
